Robin Hood is a heroic legend. He was known for his noble cause of robbing from the rich and giving to the poor along with his Merry Men. Similarly Every Sunday some group of people consisting mainly of students and young working professionals step out of their homes and fan out across the inner alleys of cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Guwahati, dressed in green t-shirts and carrying packets of food from different restaurants'. These people who call themselves 'Robins' are out to do just one thing that is distributing free food to those who need it badly. Every Sunday they distribute food to all the homeless people who are not able to buy a single packet of biscuit also.
In most cities, the robin hoods distribute food on weekends, as most of the members in the core team are working professional they group themselves into smaller cluster, and manage , logistical their ends of the city. The Robin Hood army is going way beyond they are taking responsibility is a way beyond too much great manner. They are not just feeding the poor and homeless; they are also started with few orphanage kids and old age homes.
In our county there are almost 200 million people who do not have two square meals a day and because of that everyday some 500 people die because of hunger issues and day by day the situation is going to the worst case. And after seeing this thing Robin Hood army has come up with this idea and not only in India Robin hood army is there in entire world.
All of them are members of the Robin Hood army, volunteer based organization that collects surplus amount of food from various restaurants and distributes it. They are mainly focusing on two major problems at one go that is food crisis among the less fortunate and global food wastage.
The aim ultimately is four fold reducing unnecessary food waste, reducing food insufficiency, strengthening community ties and replicating the model across multiple cities in India. Either living on a footpath, or in small village. It’s painful to witness those childrens, adults, and aged people suffer commonly from malnutrition. And it’s not only the problem of our India but the entire world.
