I May Be A Beauty Queen For You But My Story Is What I Really Deserve A Crown For
This story has been submitted by Mrs. Shweta Chaudhary.
“Behind every successful daughter, there is a great father”.
I found immense encouragement from my father who motivated me to be an achiever in life. Through his love and support, he tiled the way for me to realize my Miss India aspirations.
I recollect being fascinated by the walk of the ramp and would practice imitating the famous catwalk in front of the mirror. My vision of winning the crown made me move cities in 2006. In that very year, I found myself signing up for a Hindi film which unfortunately did not see the light of the day due to the sudden sad demise of my beloved father. And I, being the oldest among the siblings chose to take on the responsibility of the family and headed back to Mumbai to work as a product manager in EMI transmissions.
Soon, I found love in a man who successfully filled the void in my life left by my father. As luck would have it again, I bumped into a famous Kannada director at a party and was offered his movie “Rani Rathnamala”. I was much cheered by my husband who encouraged me to find a way into the world of movies. Unfortunately, due to a series of events the movie was shelved.
In the world of movies and film making where uncertainty is a sure thing, I encountered many such pitfalls. However, this did not dampen my spirit for too long. One of the most radiant moments of my life was the birth of my daughter. Challenging dark clouds, having to go through postpartum depression after childbirth, which brings in bouts of despair and irritability, I found about me having conceived and ready to welcome the second child.
Within the fifth month of the second pregnancy, I suffered a miscarriage. The series of events in my life from losing my father to losing my second child to miscarriage whilst having to deal with postpartum depression almost wrecked it. Having hit rock bottom, I pushed myself towards accepting reality and started working on self-healing by gratifying in yoga and meditation.
I was determined to not let trauma call the shots in my life. Life will bring in its share of suffering, but choosing to recover is in your hands, is what I firmly believe in and encourage people to not hesitate to consult a specialist or seek help in the road to recovery. Through the dark tunnel, I endured light at the end of it that shined through the birth of a bonny son.
Wining Mrs. India and Mrs. Eco International for my husband who secretly set me up for it in a bid to empower his wife on the fulfilment of her ambitions. I was selected for the prestigious Mrs. India beauty pageant. A glorious win I achieved by seizing the titular crown. I strongly felt at that moment my late father beaming with joy on the victory, the inception of which could be traced back to my childhood.
Adding to my kitty of a win were the titles of Mrs. India 2017, 2018 I won Mrs. Earth people’s choice, 2019 I was given honorary Mrs. Eco title for my environmental and sustainability work. Every challenge that life throws will build you up.
Signing off with my favorite song “Zindagi Pyaar ka geet hai, isse har dil ko gaana padega”, I resonate much with the famous saying “Smooth seas do not make skilful sailors”
