Are We All Running A Bit Too Fast In This Marathon Called Life?

( words)
*For representational purpose only.
Look at us, running around—in my case, tripping over things—
And having our motion accelerated by objects
That no coordinated human would trip over.
Look at us—always rushed, always late.
I guess that’s why they call it the human race.
What we crave most is direction, connection, greatness,
And most importantly, control over all of it.
Nobody gets these at the snap of a finger, that’s for sure.

For some people who have already travelled the rugged road, it’s great.
For them, life is a pop song, and they ride the express train.
But for some of us, it's different.
It's messy and complicated; it works in different ways.
It's about horrible timing, lost opportunities,
Walks of shame, and broken heels.

Look at us, running around, always rushed, always late.
I guess that’s why they call it the human race.

But you know what? Sometimes it slows down
Just enough for all the pieces to fall into place.
And you’re there.
It's heartbreaking that many people forget.
That the place they are at is not the same as someone else's;
For better or worse, it just isn’t the same.

I think the world lacks a spark, of sorts.
And everyone is so alienated from the concept of passion
That we’re all just on autopilot, and that sucks.
But you know what? We can curse it, we can hate it,
But the world has something magnificent about it;
After all, 2012 didn’t take us down, right?

Every once in a while, something unexpected happens
That pushes us all forward.
And the truth is, what I’m struggling to think
And what I’m struggling to feel is that
Maybe the human race isn’t a race at all.
We all have our own places to get to;
Are you ready to quit staring at his or hers and go get yours?
