I Took The Medicines When I Became Covid Positive But This Is What I Request You To Do
I am a veteran Covid-19 survivor. I was down with corona in 2020 (around May-June), and it made me take the super-spreader and its implications very seriously. I manage things on my own as I live alone and just have one house help for assistance.
I used to follow all and every social protocol that was (and is) issued by CDC and WHO. The reason why I contracted the virus remains unknown to me. However, my symptoms were mild, and that did make me feel complacent for quite some time.
It started with a severe and persistent headache for me, followed by complete loss of smell and a peculiar taste in my mouth. I immediately asked my house help to stay home and take the required measures. I then consulted doctors across Covid helpline, but it was not easy to get tested privately without a prescription back then. I was suggested to opt for rapid testing, but that was only happening in two places in Delhi, both of which were extremely far from my place. I couldn’t drive so much as I was excruciatingly weak and stressed.
My doctor then asked me to self-isolate and maintain a record of my Oxygen levels. I took Azithromycin for my throat pain, which I discontinued as and when I was relieved of the pain. Other than this, I took several vitamin tablets along with calcium and zinc ones. I did take a homeopathic post nasal drip as well.
Other than these, I used to drink AYUSH Kada, followed by light and healthy food and breathing exercises. I did lose my appetite but was told not to skip any meal by my doctor.
My takeaways for myself and others are pretty generic yet quintessential. I request fellow patients, survivors, and others to stay positive and maintain a similar aura. I request society to remain unbiased and affectionate towards the ones suffering. Please wear a mask all the time, don’t panic or be complacent either.
Take care and be benevolent, for that’s how we are going to fight this battle against the virus!”
