Dowry Stole My Sister’s Marriage And Life...

Dowry is the bride's compensation for the groom's incapacity.

This is my sister Manvi Gupta's tale. Manvi was a happy-go-lucky girl. She was flawless in every way and hoped to meet the man of her dreams one day. She had no idea that the man she married was a demon. Her marriage was going well until one day, her mother-in-law and husband began asking for money.

Every day, they tormented her for dowry. Still, the girl persisted. She believed that having a child with this man would make things better for her.

Who knew God had other plans for her when she gave birth to a newborn boy? Her misery became worse by the day. Such a bold and confident girl could see her soul breaking down each moment.

She broke down every time she asked her parents for money. The girl's family only wanted her to be happy. As a result, they continued to meet their demands.

Who knew those devils would get more gluttonous with each passing day? She intended to give up her life.

On January 1, 2022, she was tormented to the point of suicide. She died at 1.30 p.m., but her in-laws never phoned us.

They told our family about this at 3.30 p.m. Was it really that simple for a girl's family to witness her daughter hang and the boy's family to declare they didn't have any scissors or knives to cut the rope and save her?

And our society still has no laws to get those criminals punished. Will there be more women like Manvi in the future whose deaths will be in vain? When are we going to wake up? When are we going to fight back?

A man has the right to torment a female simply because he knows he will not face punishment.
