5 reasons why your opinion on my short hair doesn’t matter

*For representational purpose only.
1. Cryptic remarks that profoundly bother me are how many men have made remarks about my hair.

Questions like, “Why did you chop your hair?” or “You look like one of us now, edgy!” and even, “I liked your long hair, why the sudden change?” often come my way.
While some may appreciate the change, I don’t see why I should care about their opinions. Whether I chopped my hair for myself or others shouldn’t matter. It’s disheartening that people make assumptions about my motives, but I’ve learned it says more about them than it does about me. Nevertheless, I adore my new haircut.

2. And then you have the misgendering and androgynous appearance remarks.
I’ve experienced comments like, “Oh damn, I thought you were a man,” which can be hurtful and nonsensical.
However, I try to remember that it could be an honest mistake, especially for more androgynous-looking women. My hair doesn’t define my gender or who I am. Some friends might initially react strangely to my new look, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know me or that I’ve fundamentally changed.

3. ‘Not All Guys Dislike Short Hair!’

Let me say this again for the ones at the back. The notion that all guys hate women with short hair is simply untrue.
Everyone has their preferences, and some may prefer longer hair. However, others might find shorter hairstyles more attractive. People’s tastes vary, and regardless of their opinions, your partner will still love you for who you are. So, if you’ve been contemplating a long bob, go for it!

Live life to the fullest, and don’t let hair length dictate your choices. If your partner only values you for your long hair, it might be time to re-evaluate your relationship.
4. When I got a pixie cut a few months ago, other girls complimented me and said it suited me well. Men paid less attention, which was quite surprising. As it’s growing out, I sometimes feel a bit dull with long hair, which is a shame. Nevertheless, I remind myself that I can always pull off the short look again if I want to.

5. Don't worry that people will interpret things incorrectly! We are aware of the potential misconceptions, and it is safe to say had we decided to cut our hair anyway, we wouldn't have given a d**m about what others think. And we still don't.
