I could not stand for her because of this society.

This story started two years back when I went for my cousin's marriage. Like all other typical marriages, our group of cousins were looking for gorgeous girls. My younger cousin fell for a girl who was two years older than him. They started chatting, calling, and were madly in love. He was pursuing his studies and was yet to get a job but he convinced his parents for their match. While his parents agreed, the girl's did not. Obviously, no one would like to hand over their daughter without future securities. My cousin and I used to share a good bond so he used to tell me everything. One day he called me and said that she was getting married to someone else because her parents were forcing her to do so. Her mother even threatened her.

While his parents agreed, the girl's did not. Obviously, no one would like to hand over their daughter without future securities. My cousin and I used to share a good bond, so he used to tell me everything. One day he called me and said that she was getting married to someone else because her parents were forcing her to do so. Her mother was even threatening to commit suicide if she married him. So my cousin asked me to talk to her on Facebook and convince her not to marry another guy. For my cousin, I messaged her to ask about the matter. I realised that the girl was not very sure about my cousin, and was more mature than him. She had lied about her parents threatening her because she had no other way of convincing him. From this conversation, I felt that she was not that mad about him and it was just lust or attraction. So I gave the same feedback to my cousin.

After a few months, her engagement with another guy broke for some other reason, and my cousin started talking to her again. In a few days, my cousin said that he went to her place, kissed her and touched her a bit- nothing else happened. They again had a fight and this time it was very disastrous. They even stopped talking and blocked each other on WhatsApp and Facebook.

My cousin asked me to help again, and make them patch up. I talked to her again and she said that she didn't want to see his face ever again, and I should stop mentioning him. I thought they were separated, but this was not the end. She started messaging me and we started sharing normal conversations and jokes. Later, I found her to be very intelligent, for which I fell for her.

I didn't know that my cousin was still waiting for her. In the meanwhile, I realized that she was the perfect girl for me. I shared my opinion with her and my family. My family stood with me and said before marriage, it's normal to talk on the phone so that should not bother my cousin. Finally, both families agreed and were about to discuss how to go forward.

But my cousin shamelessly spread the news to his family and all other relatives that he had kissed that girl and even slept with her. I was so hurt to hear this news. Every second relative used to come and ask me why I was mad about a girl who had slept with my cousin.

This news reached my parents too. I tried telling them that my cousin was exaggerating everything.

Finally, our family relations became weird and I decided that we should not go ahead with the marriage. Maybe people's words overshadowed my love and I gave up. I still truly love her and I never talked to my cousin after this incident.

I'm happy she is getting married soon.
