I Became Covid Positive And I Want To Share This Take Away With You All

18th of March evening: My husband reached home with a bit of a fever & dry cough. Keeping in mind the current situation in Maharashtra, we immediately isolated ourselves & called up the nearest diagnostics for a home RT-PCR (for Rs. 930/-) & waited for the next 24 hours to get his report.

The next day, his fever flared up to 101F with a headache. But he decided to go for a total alkaline holistic treatment. So, I stocked up 15-20 tender coconuts for his day-long need. By late evening, the report showed that he was Covid positive. I soon canceled all my outdoor commitments, informed the society committee, my studio supervisor, the maid, and the milkman. I called up my doctor and bought an oximeter & the prescribed medicines. I then informed our parents & close friends.

My son and I then went for a Rapid test at the Government Covid-test Center which I found very convincing & organized. The officials were highly cooperative & helped us in every step. The test took Rs. 10/- & we received our report within 10-15 minutes, which showed that I too was Covid positive.

The next few days were spent in gloom with all classic symptoms - body ache, headache, fatigue, and cough. Fortunately, the oxygen level was good and there was no breathlessness either. Meanwhile I lost my smell & taste too. To keep our son covid-free, we room-quarantined & video-called each other through rooms. I outsourced home-cooked meals separately, which was a big help for getting optimum nourishment without stepping into the kitchen.

I was taking all the medicines given to me- the multivitamins, cough syrup & paracetamol. However, my husband was doing better than me without any medication. It took me one week to feel better and energetic enough to follow up with my regular chores. By God’s grace, we did heal and now I am sharing my journey.

I humbly thank everyone who paused for a second and checked in on us. The feeling of stepping out of the same room after 14 days was overwhelming. After recovery, I decided to reach out to people in need so organized a virtual fundraiser for Covid relief.

Lastly, stay safe, take care, and trust me- it passes!
