This Independence Day I Want To Ask; Are We Really Independent?

( words)
*For representational purpose only.

That was 15th August 2013. I was in 2nd year of my BTech. I was chilling and going through all the posts on independence and it just struck me that I didn’t have any independence. That’s when I wrote the following post. Every year on 15th August, I read this post and every time, it makes a lot of sense to me.

"Happy Independence Day friends.....but this independence is just with respect to ruling of our nation....I hope all of u know the 6 fundamental rights of a citizen viz: Right to equality, Right to freedom, Right against exploitation, Right to freedom of religion, Cultural and educational rights, Right to constitutional remedies. When every individual achieves all these rights PERFECTLY, then individual freedom is gained as these are the fundamental rights. Apart from these rights, every individual has his/her personal rights which he/she ought to achieve. When these rights are also fulfilled, then complete independence will be achieved by the individual. It is more important to gain individual independence by every individual of our nation as it is none other than our nation's independence. So, I wish everyone can gain his/her complete individual independence......once again Happy Independence Day to everyone!"

This is unedited and they are my exact words, 7 years back. There’s obviously a possibility of editing but I want to keep it as it was originally written.

I would like to add a few words to some sentences.

Apart from these rights, every individual has his/her personal rights which he/she wants to achieve but has to struggle through every minute of their life with a lot of factors affecting; like family and society for starters.

It is more important to gain individual independence by every individual of our nation. Then, the nation will achieve complete independence. Because nation does not mean a piece of land. Nation means people.

As a nation, (which is sad)  we don't only have to fight for our own personal rights and freedom, but have to defend other’s freedom and rights as well and we never should take what we have for granted. Because, you and only you know the struggle behind what you have and the value of it. So helping others achieve it is our responsibility.

Maybe there’s an imaginary long way to go to achieve this. But what’s life today without hope for good things to happen tomorrow !!??

Thank you for your patience.
