Marriage Is About Putting Your Partner Before You

Today, I want to tell you about the other side of marriage. When I say 'other', I mean everything that goes into making a marriage work after you've had a grand wedding. Even your wedding is more than just a huge party that you host for your friends and relatives. It's a celebration of the new journey that you're about to advance upon with your partner. A journey whose adventures and misadventures are unknown to you. A journey where you'll unravel each new day, along with your partner.

Marriage is about putting your partner and his needs before your own. It's about putting 'you' before 'me'. It's about creating a happy place for your partner and about committing yourself to him for life. It's about accepting him at his best and his worst.

Marriage is not just about making vows but working towards fulfilling them and standing by your partner, through thick and thin. It's simply about being there with each other, for ever.

Marriage is also about respecting your partner and protecting his dignity, at all cost. Yet, you've got to try and make him a better version of himself, without hurting him intentionally. But, for a happy marriage, you will have to bring about changes in yourself as well. You will have to learn to keep your ego aside and accept your mistakes, as and when they occur.

In the end, marriage is all about loving your partner and caring for him, without binding him down. It's about making him free, instead.
