To My Father, Here Is All That You Deserved To Know But Were Never Told

Dear Baba,

We all talk about our mothers. How they raised us, how they sacrificed everything to take care of the family, to make sure that their children, their husbands get everything that they need.

While there is undoubtedly no point that can be raised here of what a mother does for her children, her sacrifices are always going to be put on the top of the list, but what about that dad, who silently does things for his family and never expects anyone to link any scrambled pieces?

Daddy, you have not just given all your self to make your daughters self-sufficient, but you have done that by staying away from us for most of the years. It’s been now 12 years that you are staying alone in a completely unknown place where there is no family and you have never ever complained about being alone or being bored of doing every chore all by yourself.

People around me know that I am very close to my mother, which is true, but people around me do not know what kind of bond I share with my father who still manages to keep us happy being miles apart.

I have never said this before, but I feel like telling you now that, I MISS YOU and I have missed you every day and missed you more on Diwali, Holi, New Years, my birthdays, your birthday which you have celebrated all alone for 12 years, and I am really sorry that due to some or the other commitments we never got to celebrate it together.

Today, when I am married, and miles away from you and mom, I truly understand what you have done for us and that too with a smile. You have not only taught me to live my life on my own terms, be a highly opinionated person, accept things the way they are but most importantly you have taught me the real meaning of love. Today this 26-year-old daughter of yours can proudly say that she has understood everything that you have taught her.

To love, to respect and support all the endeavors of your partner, just like you have always supported my mom.

Your zeal to help everyone around you has given me a new angle to look at things. I am honored to be your daughter, dad, truly. I may not call you daily, but I know that you sit back there and wait for my call. I promise you that, I will make sure to call you often. You are my real superhero and there is no one in the world that can take this place as it belongs only to you and a part of my heart will always belong to you which I proudly call it “HOME”.

Only yours,

Mani
