He Makes Me Believe In Forever And He Shows Me What Love Is All About

Sometimes, the person you least expect to wins your heart magically. I was a fresher in office and he was a typical workaholic IT senior of mine. Our first interaction was him giving me a brief training, which we both wanted to end soon. Next encounter was in the cafeteria when he gave me this weird look asking "Aap drink bhi karti ho?" No, he was not at all my type of man.

I was a carefree girl who did not have a sensitive side. He was caring, gentle and emotional.

Soon we became good friends and I loved making fun of him and bullying him, he always reverted with a blushing smile. We enjoyed spending our weekend shifts in the office together, and it was all fun and games. People linked us but that never bothered us. Then, came his farewell day.

For the first time, he asked me to spend some time with him alone. It was that day when I read something in his eyes, which I was probably trying to ignore since the past few days.

I knew I was not "just a friend" for him, and that scared me. After two days, he threw a farewell party, and he managed to convince me to attend it. A few drinks down, he was all emotional and I knew his feelings were no longer under his control. With tears in his eyes, he kissed my forehead saying, "I'll miss you a lot”. Throughout the party, he guarded me and then we all planned a night out in a hotel.

I don't know whether it was the alcohol’s doing or the situation, amongst the crowd, I found a long-awaited solace in his warmth.

The next morning, I knew he would regret it all. So, I kept it short with a goodbye hug. To be honest, even I knew it was nothing serious, just a flow of emotions which is over now. But much to my surprise, and contrary to my expectations, it was not over for him. His messages never stopped, they started increasing from a simple good morning to day-long chats.

Then his dream came true, he got an offer from Singapore. I was happy for him and knew that we could finally move on now. But again, he proved me wrong.

We went on our first date, and I realized that he was not just like any other boyfriend, he was a lover. He shared with me all about his past, and I somehow felt guilty that I was not being true to him about my feelings. His true and innocent eyes made me wish to be with him forever. He knew I was never serious about him, but that never stopped him from loving me. I always believed that relationships are temporary, they are sweet in the beginning and turn bitter with time. But he made me believe in forever. Today, we are in a long-distance relationship, and I still wake up with a smile to his good morning texts daily. Every day, we steal a moment for each other amidst our office work, and he keeps waiting for me till I reach home at 11.30 pm from office. He sleeps at 2 a.m. Singapore time after ensuring I am safe. My heart still skips a beat when his video call flashes on my screen. I get butterflies in my stomach while he plans our next dates. We fall in love with each other every day in a new way.

It was from him that I learnt, only if you love someone and treat him/her the way you did on the first day, there would never be any ending. I miss you Himanshu.
