He Had Forgotten Me After His Coma But We Made It To Our Happily Ever After

I belong to a middle-class family. My dad is a government employee and my mom is a housewife, I also have an elder sister. I'm proud to say that everyone in my family dared to fall in love and ended up getting married to their sweethearts. Inspired by my relatives who were hopelessly in love even after 30-40 years, even I wanted to fall wildly and madly in love with a guy and get hitched for life. Maybe that's why, one of my lifelong visions in life has been: to end up being an old woman with an old husband laughing at jokes from our past and reminiscing our wild love story. I was 20 years old when my wild love story began. I finished my bachelor's in psychology and went on to pursue my masters in another city.

It was during one of my journeys back to Kolkata from Chennai, when I met a guy. Samarth was everything I wanted in a guy. The highlight was his beard. He was tall, manly, dusky and wore spectacles. He was caring, loving, funny and intelligent. All through the journey, we never slept.

By the time we got down in Kolkata, I knew everything about him and he knew everything about me, except for our phone numbers. We had exchanged our email ids. Samarth was in Kolkata for a week for his office project. Not one day passed without us talking. The time came for him to leave Kolkata and I went to the railway station to see him off. I got a text from an unknown number two days later, and it was Samarth. What started then was a new and different kind of relationship, where neither of us expressed our feelings but knew we were in love.

Years went by, on my 24th birthday Samarth proposed to me in front of my parents and the dates were fixed for our marriage. Life loves giving us unexpected and unwanted surprises and twists.

On the same day of our engagement, after the ceremony, Samarth met with an accident. He was in coma for few months. After 6 months, I got the good news that Samarth has woken up from his long, way too long nap. This is when life gave me another unexpected and unwanted twist. Samarth had no memories about me. Life sometimes gives unexpected miracles too. Three months later, Meera Ravindran became Meera Samarth. Yes, the day I went to see Samarth he really didn’t know who I was but, because his mom insisted he decided to talk to me for some time. That night we never slept. When the sun came up the next day, I knew everything about him and he knew everything about me, this time including our marriage dates.

P.S. Love can happen all over again many times, sometimes with different people and sometimes with the same person under different circumstances.
